the mark of those who cannot be saved

[You remember dying. Maybe the memory is clear and bright and your body still aches from the cause. Maybe it was fast enough that you didn't feel it and don't remember what you went through. But no matter how you went out, that's no excuse for truancy! Which is to say: you are still in the school.

For those executed, you will wake up in your beds. The dormitories look exactly as they did when you first arrived, without any of the changes or personal effects you and your dormmates might have made. The only real difference is that the little cot in Ambassador isn't there.

For those who were victims, you will wake where your body was discovered. All of your injuries are gone, and you feel fine. It's almost like you're still alive - but you remember what happened to you. It couldn't have just been a dream, could it?

The school looks much as you remember it, save perhaps for a few key differences. For one, there's no groundhog murals anywhere. Where things were green on the other side, like banners or paint, you'll find that here they're blood red.

The doors, for the moment, are still locked. Looks like even death couldn't free you.]

Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4
| Week 5

(( ooc: Welcome to deadland, everyone! It mostly resembles the school here, and new floors will be revealed after new people die. For example, the second area will unlock after the week 3 dead arrive, and so on. Also, all dead characters will wake up at their actual canonpoint, with all lost memories restored. Have fun being dead! ))

....... It's Per. [His general art style makes it a little hard to tell, he realizes.] The other one is, uh. My... ex-boyfriend? Miguel.

[They're on the same canvas, because Connor lives dangerously and is also an idiot. Anyway, his hesitation isn't about his feelings for Miguel or anything. He just, uh. Isn't sure that he can technically call Miguel his ex-boyfriend? Can you call someone your boyfriend, ex or otherwise, if you never actually clarified your relationship to them?]

[Varian never knew about Miguel, at least not in those terms. Peregrine did mention a friend that Connor had though, and Varian is smart enough to put two and two together. If Connor had any friends, especially one good enough to see in that kind of light...]

I think they'd like it, if they could see it. Both of them.

[He says as he moves to find a seat, sitting in one of the computer chairs backwards all dumbly.]

...you know, before...I had to go, Peregrine started to ask me to tell you something. But she didn't finish.

[...]

But I still want you to know that she's thinking about you. She hasn't forgotten you.

[.... Oh. That's what he wanted to hear and at the same time—well. Well, hopefully he'll see her again soon.]

I don't really know that Miguel wants to see me right now, but... I'm glad she's still thinking of me. [It means someone will see that you are there—] Nobody back home is.

[He doesn't know that everyone is, actually, and that's not actually... a good thing? That's a bad thing. It's such a bad thing.]

[The way Connor says that...that nobody back home is thinking of him. It's heartbreaking. Even Varian, who doesn't have that many people to call family and friends, at least knows now they're probably very concerned for his wellbeing in spite of the way he'd behaved in life.

Meanwhile, as far as he knows, Connor hadn't done anything near as bad to deserve that kind of treatment. To be forgotten outright is far worse than even being remembered in a bad light.]

Well...Peregrine of all people is starting to believe in spirits and ghosts, so if that doesn't tell you something, I don't know what will.

I'm pretty sure she intends to try to reach us, at some point.
