[You remember dying. Maybe the memory is clear and bright and your body still aches from the cause. Maybe it was fast enough that you didn't feel it and don't remember what you went through. But no matter how you went out you're still trapped here.

When you open your eyes it might take you a minute to recognize your surroundings. It's your dressing room, that much is certain, but nothing is where you remember it. It's like everything has been picked up and moved to the other side of the room. The entire room has been perfectly mirrored from what it used to be and, upon leaving, it seems the rest of the opera house is just the same. If you remember one room being in the east wing, it's now in the west. If it was in the west, it's now in the east.

It's a perfectly mirrored version of the Opera House and each week, as new people die after new floors have been revealed, the stairwell doors will unlock and allow you to reach them. With everything you've been through? I can't lie and say I'm not curious. You make it all sound...so eventful.

There's a lot. Um... some people already figured this out, but I really am a Precure. I wasn't very good at first, but I had to accept when God asked me to be one. You know the Blue Sky Kingdom was overrun when the Phantom Empire was freed from Axia, the box they'd been sealed in, and I had to escape to Earth.

Th-that's, that's because... I was the one who opened Axia.

[Her perusing stops, for a moment.]

Like...Pandora, is it? You opened a box, and horrors broke loose? Why did you?

It was the day I was supposed to pray at Axia for a ceremony every heir of the Blue Sky Kingdom has to do, but when I walked up to the box, I heard a voice. "Help, help me, let me out..." I didn't know it would hurt anything! The next thing I knew, they were everywhere. They defeated my parents and imprisoned them in mirrors, started doing the same to everyone else... I escaped with Ribbon through a secret passage only I knew about, but I had to run to a whole other world. That's how I ended up on Earth, living in the embassy.

So you tried to help someone, and you caused a calamity, and to fix it, you had to become a magical girl, like in fiction.

My... That does make me want to know more. What happened next, Hime-san?

I wasn't very good at it. I lost every fight with the monsters they created out of human emotion. There were other Precure out there, but I still had to fight, even though it was scary and I always lost and had to run away. Not to mention there was another Precure who didn't get her powers from God, Cure Fortune, and she knew I'd opened Axia. She blamed me for everything and would never help me. I'd lose a fight, she'd come in and save the civilians only after that, and then she'd say I was unforgivable and she'd never work with me.

[Hime flails her arms.]

It sucked! I hated it! For a long time, I didn't know what to do! But...

[D-ne's turned around to look at her. She appears impassive, but there's something kind about her gaze- genuinely kind, not the mask she so desperately tries to perfect.]

But?

God told me, "Make a friend."

[Hime smiles a little then.]

He gave me the same crystal that all the Precure get when he chooses them, but I was supposed to choose a new Precure myself. I'd never had friends before, and people scared me. Um, they still scare me sometimes. But if I had a friend, I'd be happier, right, and having backup might help me win some fights.

I didn't know how to approach anyone or how to see who might be a good person or friendly, but I came up with the best plan ever!

[Something sad lingers in her gaze.]

What plan did you come up with?

I went to the top of the tallest building in town and threw the crystal off it at random so whoever it hit would become my friend!

Come on, D-ne! It worked, didn't it? There was no way I could just approach somebody!

[She leans on D-ne and sighs.] People really scared me back then. Even now, it's kind of intimidating.

[UM WOW hi....human contact......] ...I-I understand the feeling. S-so, did you find this, ah...friend of yours?

[rockthistown]

[geez d-ne we're friends!!!!!!!!]

Uh-huh. Megumi. I found her and followed her around for a while, and I saw that she was really nice, always helping people who needed it. Ribbon pushed me to go up and talk to her, and we started talking right away about fashion! It turned out she loved Precure and was always watching things about us on the news. Perfect, right? Even though she had the weakest Precure around who was always running away as a partner, Megumi was just happy to join.

That day, her friend's little sister was put into a mirror by a Phantom Empire general, and her feelings made a Saiark -- those were the monsters. I ran away when we started to lose again, but when Megumi found me, she told me that I wasn't weak because I kept trying again even when I lost. We went back and beat it, and we saved Mao-chan all by ourselves. That was when my luck started turning around.

[LOOK she's only had friendly human contact from one person alright!!!]

That's... Are you trying to tell me everything can still turn out for the best, no matter how dour it seems? [She smiles lightly.] I'm glad that it did, for you.

Uh-huh. Even Cure Fortune started to turn around eventually. Not before she tried to steal all my friends and told them all I opened Axia. [grumble] But it turned out that she didn't know it was an accident, and she was mad because her sister was captured by the Phantom Empire. She even joined us and became our friend.

It, ah, all sounds... [She sighs, gently.] What we have here, then, is two different experiences. Both of us have undergone, ah...difficulties, but yours have filled you with hope while mine have demoralized me further.

Because of the positive outcomes of yours, you believe we all have to lead happy lives, even myself. ...But there's no way to tell who will be correct, in the end, besides waiting.

Do you think we'll know? Aside from nobody showing up here anymore.

Perhaps. Perhaps we'll be forever in a state of Schrodinger's Cat, knowing neither if the ending will be happy or unhappy.

I don't want that either! Even if we have to be dead, they should be able to go home...
