He’s conferred with the SQUIP on the purpose of this meeting, and so clears his throat. It’s a much smaller crowd, but perhaps, with the right amount of push, they can still make a difference.]

Good afternoon. Thank you all for coming. I have discussed today’s topics with the SQUIP, and have organized them by topic, so that we may be sure to address all areas.

I agree. Mademoiselle Hester, even from my brief time knowing her, didn't seem to fully grasp the nature of our situation.

Not at all. She is also kept in the dark as to what our pictures are, when we received them. Furthermore, the first time I visited her after that first trial...she looked like she had been incredibly distraught at first, considering the state of her makeup, but her actions had a dream, like quality, as did her general state.

Later, Monsieur Connor mentioned something about brainwashing, if I recall.

If you can manipulate a SQUIP, a human would be child's play. Assuming she is human in the first place. Considering our own memories, I do not think hers can be trusted.

...indeed. It does certainly seem like Hester's memories have been tampered with, but for what reason?

[It considers what Nana has said. About the Wizard wanting a family. A sentimental man.

What Discord and Salieri have brought to the table. The Wizard's behavior.

What it knows humans will do for the ones they care about. How irrational they will behave]

...what has the Wizard said about his family, exactly? Perhaps he is trying to replace it. As the trial ending in Discord's favor would have resulted in everyone else dying...perhaps it is the deaths themselves he is after, one way or another.

So the deaths might provide him something to do with his family? Perhaps the ability to revive them somehow?

It is the only guess I can make without learning more. And even then...

I have misread humans before.

...it doesn't help when this one in particular has surrounded himself entirely with metal.

Body language and facial expression are integral to my social analysis. I am at a substantial disadvantage without them.

That's what makes Hester easier to read, I suppose.

The most that could be observed of the Wizard was his outbursts.

He does get outbursty, doesn't he? I didn't even get the proper voting spiel.

Though he did sing.

Did he? [frown!!] That's new. Any particular reason that you could surmise?

Hester was having trouble keeping the song going.

...I see. So he was in a hurry to get it done and wasn't about to wait for her.

It certainly seemed that way.

I didn't particularly care about that, of course, seeing as it was always my plan to take over the performance. But I wasn't expecting to get to interrupt him.

[...it did make things a lot more fun, honestly.]

...I suppose more charitably [eugh] it could've been him jumping in because he felt bad about her struggling.

For you. For me, Hester may as well have been behind a metal wall of her own. [It sounds a little frustrated] These outbursts were only at the trials?

Hester and I spent much time talking. But even before I knew her well, she was fairly easy for me to read.

So it seems...though it's hard to know if there was a different time, because we only saw the Wizard during trials, save for one exception.

[Salieri can't help but go still at that, hands clenching on the edge of the table, expression going neutral, pulling that mask into place so he doesn't think about blood, wet and sticking, limbs at odd angles and his arms shaking, trembling as he lifts--

He blinks once, eyes closed perhaps a moment longer than necessary, but--]

...he was...annoyed with us. But he did speak to us, and lowered Janis down from the bubble. He said that there would be no trial, for there were only trials for people. [all reported in a neutral tone] I didn't engage with him much myself, but some of the others did.

Perhaps if we narrow down those in Madame Player's list to those who may have a complicated family history, then?

That's a very good idea. It might help us rule out some people, at least, and the smaller we can make that list, the better.

She certainly wasn't aware she was a part of the latest incentive, until I showed the photo at the trial.

...On the whole, I would say she is not doing very well.
