[You remember dying. Maybe the memory is clear and bright and your body still aches from the cause. Maybe it was fast enough that you didn't feel it and don't remember what you went through. But no matter how you went out you're still trapped here.

When you open your eyes it might take you a minute to recognize your surroundings. For the executed, it's your dressing room. For the victims, you startle awake in the place your body was discovered. But no matter where you are nothing is where you remember it. It's like everything has been picked up and moved to the other side of the room. The entire room has been perfectly mirrored from what it used to be and, upon leaving, it seems the rest of the opera house is just the same. If you remember one room being in the east wing, it's now in the west. If it was in the west, it's now in the east.


Welcome back to the Opera House, friends. Even in death you're still in the woods.]

TRIAL TIME

[When Friday rolls around again, the mirror Opera House finally and blissfully changes. The lights flicker softly several times before the sealed doors to the trial room open.

The doors lead to one of the elegant and abandoned boxes above the Orchestra pit. There are two red velvet seats there, just waiting to be sat on so observe the goings on below. For each pair who enters the doors, a new narrow hallway opens up for that the next pair will be able to take the next box.

BJ and Evan can be seen in another box, Beetlejuice this time loudly slurping a very large cup of soda and Evan wishing for the sweet embrace of real death.]

[ Well, after a straight day of sleep, Riley was kind of hoping that something good would happen! That's silly. Silly girl. The doors open and she just rushes in. For the first time, without having to strain and focus, she can see everyone else left behind—well, almost everyone. Just the fact that the doors are open is...bad, but. Well, she really, really was hoping...

Watching from above like this feels weird and wrong. Riley grips the edge of the box. ]

They all look so tired.

[ What the hell even happened to them this week? ]

I wonder if the Phantom got tired of the carrot and decided to try a stick this week.

[Sigyn takes the seat next to Riley, frowning down at their friends below. It's getting harder and harder every week to have hope that these doors won't open again.]

[ Her grip tightens. ]

I guess we'll find out what happened soon.

And what do you plan to do if you're able to get up there?

[ Everyone's been arguing! And fighting with each other! And Riley's been slowly getting more and more unnerved watching it, because it's happening again.

[ There are people who kill intentionally. Riley knows what that looks like. It's...not this. ]

[She places a hand on Riley's shoulder and squeezes. It isn't clear if the action is to ground Riley or herself.]

If you want to leave, it's okay.

[ In an action unintentionally similar to Jeremy's, Riley tries to shrug Sigyn's hand off. ]

Leave? No! No, I have to- you're hearing this, right? It's- it's the SQUIP! It's the SQUIP, and it's going to get him killed!

[ You know how she was trying to get to the Phantom's box? Yeah. Yeah, she's just. Redoubling her efforts now. ]

[Well that was disappointing. It would have been rather pleasant to see Jeremy do this rather than the SQUIP since-

he’s just as weak as I thought. Just an accident and not a killer. It would be nice to find someone who understand me or else-

-another person will be here to be a thorn on his side, and one who knows some of the stories of Fife. He and Riley had better not team up on him.]

[Claudine takes a second to try and gauge exactly how high up they are and exactly how feasible it is to actually get to the stage. She determines that it’s about as feasible a jump as anything she’s seen before, and including her own dramatic jump onto a stage.]

I’m willing to try it if you are. Wouldn’t be the craziest jump I’ve seen.

[And what’s the worst thing that can happen? It can’t be worse than bleeding out had been.]

[Richard stands up as well, although he doesn't start trying to jump out of his box seat or anything.]

[ She hears the Phantom and just- ]

I'm going to fucking kill him!!

[Said more to himself than to her. Somehow he tears his gaze away from the trial below when Riley screams.]

Riley.

[He drops into his full commanding baritone, his voice ringing sharply above the cacophony below.]
