[You remember dying. Maybe the memory is clear and bright and your body still aches from the cause. Maybe it was fast enough that you didn't feel it and don't remember what you went through. But no matter how you went out, that's no excuse for truancy! Which is to say: you are still in the school.

For those executed, you will wake up in your beds. The dormitories look exactly as they did when you first arrived, without any of the changes or personal effects you and your dormmates might have made. The only real difference is that the little cot in Ambassador isn't there.

For those who were victims, you will wake where your body was discovered. All of your injuries are gone, and you feel fine. It's almost like you're still alive - but you remember what happened to you. It couldn't have just been a dream, could it?

The school looks much as you remember it, save perhaps for a few key differences. For one, there's no groundhog murals anywhere. Where things were green on the other side, like banners or paint, you'll find that here they're blood red.

The doors, for the moment, are still locked. Looks like even death couldn't free you.]

(( ooc: Welcome to deadland, everyone! It mostly resembles the school here, and new floors will be revealed after new people die. For example, the second area will unlock after the week 3 dead arrive, and so on. Also, all dead characters will wake up at their actual canonpoint, with all lost memories restored. [Yeah at this point Varian is just. Holding on for dear life and screaming. I wish I had more icons to properly express how many years of his already cut-short life are being shaved off right now but I'm sure you can probably imagine it's pretty intense.

It might be funny in a grimly ironic sort of way, seeing as how Rina is definitely deliberately mowing down the corn. But safe it is not. It's going to be a miracle if the car doesn't flip.]

[ She keeps swerving around, doing SO many donuts, intent to really mow down as much as possible. Fucking crop circles are being made tonight. She even sometimes takes her hands off the wheel to freak Varian out a bit more.

But then she sees it. Dead ahead of the direction they’re currently going in. The scarecrow.

Immediately her mind is back to that night, back to staring at the stake through her stomach wondering what it was, knowing what it was but afraid to acknowledge it. She remembers feeling bad that she broke the scarecrow, even though none of it was her fault. ]

[ And then she’s back. In the car. And her mouth tightens.

She guns it again, going as fast as she can and hits the scarecrow at top speed, sending it flying behind them.

She doesn’t feel bad this time. ]

[The Balladeer scrambles out of the way, taking shelter behind wherever the SQUIP is standing.]

Are you seriously - [Wait. No. He knows better. He turns to Sissi instead.] - are you seriously letting them do this?

[Varian had hoped that briefly slowing down meant they would be stopping soon, but he was dead wrong. Instead, she spots her target...her prey, and now they're going as fast as the car can go again and oh god if this wasn't enough to make him carsick it sure is enough to make him feel like he's going to die a second time over.

He's got one hand reaching back to grip the headrest of his seat while the other is like...pressed against the door, as if prepared to open it to eject himself if it looks like they're about to slam into something less breakable than a scarecrow. Not that he knows if he'd even do it, it seems like throwing yourself from a speeding car is equally as deadly?

But...they're dead. He wonders what would even happen, in that case.

He breathes hard, his heart hammering in not just his chest but his head as well, eyes darting frantically over to Rina once the scarecrow has been destroyed.]

R-rina, we're going to crash-!

[ Rina hears that, and looks at him out of the corner of her eye for just a moment. ]

Are you scared?

Yes-!

[...wait, shit.]

I mean- no- I mean-

[Deep breaths. In, out. Eye's forward, just to make sure they're not about to careen into the school.]

I thought w-we were just going on the ro-road!!

[ At that she

Finally slows down. ]

Okay.

I’ll consider that even then.

[ And at a perfectly slow and gentle speed she turns and starts to make her way back out of the corn. ]

Varian blinks, sitting up a bit straighter now as Rina drives much more carefully out of the corn. He still feels a little like he's about to die again, but now that they're no longer speeding he thinks he can start to calm down...so long as Rina doesn't decide to whip back around for extra points.

Where's Rina's wild ride taking them now?]

[ As she comes back out she leans out the window and looks at the SQUIP and the others.

…oh there’s more people here now she didn’t even notice while she was driving. O-Oops. ]

Okay, I got that out of my system.

…Varian and I are going to try driving down the road now. At normal speed. We’ll be fine, I have a handle on it now and promise to drive safely.

Of course! You did a wonderful job, by the way! That speed was quite unbelievable, and the way you smashed into the corn field-I'm pretty sure you were going as fast as a horse, maybe even faster!

[She seems quite happy, though she's also holding the scarecrow.]
